Configuring Outlook Express 5.0-6.0 for Windows OS

In order for you to configure your Outlook Express 5.0 - 6.0 settings properly, you will need to have ready your username and password supplied to you by CogniLogic AND your current Internet Service Provider's (ISP) SMTP address. Contact your current ISP for their SMTP address and CogniLogic if you have not received your username and password.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express.
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.


  3. Choose Add, then Mail.



  4. In the Display name field, type your name, then click Next.



  5. In the E-mail address field, type your full email address (e.g., username@cognilogic.net), then click Next.



  6. Click the down arrow on the My incoming mail is a ____ server drop-down list and choose either IMAP, or POP3.
  7. In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field, type "cognilogic.net" (excluding parentheses)
  8. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, type your ISP's SMTP address. If you don't know this, you will have to consult your Internet Provider for this address.
  9. Click the Next button.


  10. In the Account name field, type the username that was provided to you by CogniLogic.
  11. In the Password field, type the password that was provided to you by CogniLogic.
  12. Click the Next button.



  13. Click the Finish button.



  14. Click the Close button.



  15. Close and Restart Outlook Express. You will then be able to Send/Receive your e-mail messages.
