CogniLogic has just released WebMail to their web hosting clients. WebMail allows
users to access, send, and receive e-mail via any internet browser. All that is
required is an internet connection to simply log in to the WebMail interface.
WebMail also allows users to choose between two popular e-mail protocols, POP3
and IMAP accounts.
The POP3 protocol allows you to enable multiple subfolders within your e-mail
program's Inbox. IMAP does not. IMAP allows a user's system to automatically update
the web server with their folders. For instance, if a user has a folder that they
would like to store e-mail messages in called "my keepsakes", then whenever they
check e-mail the server will automatically place the "my keepsakes" folder and
all its contents on the web server, enabling the user to view their folder at
the WebMail interface. POP3 does not allow this to happen. POP3 only allows users
to view their folders on their local computer, not within the WebMail interface.
